Well right now we are in Sydney, dropping our daughter off for another year of boarding school. She’s settled back in and seeing that it’s the weekend , were spending one more weekend together before we head back to Kazakhstan.
We have enjoyed our week here in Sydney in glorious weather. I’m not looking forward to heading home to KZ. Apparently they’ve hit minus 40 and it’s frigid!!
Happy Chinese New Year!
Well while I’m here I ‘ll do my Fave Five for this week.
I’m thankful for many things this week, but here’s my top 5:
1. meeting up with a work mate from 10 years ago. It really was great to catch up with her and it’s true these things just don’t happen. You have to make them happen. Thank you Idau for making time for us.
2. Sydney city. I just love it. So vibrant. so beautiful and at this time of the year just gorgeous. And of course I have so many wonderful memories of my time here.
3. Internet. I never really realized how much I take my internet at home for granted. When we travel, we make sure that the hotel or place we stay at has internet. It is just the way we stay in touch these days.
4. family funny moments. this week we’ve had a few. of course we are here to drop Renee back at school and we will miss her, but it’s the little things we do together. the moments we are together that are precious.
5. just thankful. everywhere I look around I see those in need and those who appear to have it all. really no matter where I am, I will always be better off than someone else and worse of than others. So for right here, right now…..I’m thankful, and content..
share with us your fave five!
Happy Weekend to you all.

Glad you could have time with your friend and are having some fun family time too!
-40!! Wow! I had a hard time with single digit temperatures this week.
Sydney sounds like a beautiful place.
I like to be able to have Internet access when we travel, too.
whoa....negative 40??? ugh....we just had -2 and that was bad enough!! I would love to travel to Sydney Australia but I don't think I could ever have put my daughters in a boarding school..my oldest is away at a Christian college now and my youngest is at home with us in her first year of high school. Yay for fun family and friends time...that is a true blessing! happy weekend!!
-40? Wow, stay warm!!
Prayers for you and your daughter as you are apart during the school year. So glad you had some funny times together. Those types of memories are so bonding and help get us through the tough times.
Hurray for the Internet. It really does allow us the amazing ability to be in touch with folks all over the world.
Stay warm. :)
How fun that you were able to meet up with an old co-worker while you were taking your daughter back to school. Hope you had many, many precious moments with your girl to tide you over until you are reunited!
I know what you mean about taking internet for granted. My son is abroad right now, and it's amazing how much harder it is to find Wi-Fi there. Hope you have a great week ahead!
My son is in Sydney this week at a conference!
Khazakhstan--a dear friend of mine lived there for several years. I remember her mentioning the COLD winters! (Contact me privately if you want to connect with her)
I also remember the years I sent my kids off to boarding school in Papua. You leave a bit of your heart with them.
My first time visiting from Susanne's- enjoying exploring your site. Glad you enjoyed your time in Sydney! And good for you getting out and running while there. :o)
I imagine it's hard to leave your daughter- all my siblings went to boarding school (my mum is Willow) and I know it was so hard for her to say good bye. Glad you were able to spend some memorable time together before saying good bye.
